We have noticed during our driving that people can become impatient
with new drivers. Because of their impatience they tend to crowd the driver and make them nervous. We believe that if there was some sort
of sign or flag to notify them of the driver’s inexperience, they would feel safer while driving. We think that the safe student drivers flags are a wonderful idea because they will alert other highway users and make everyone feel more comfortable! These flags are marvelous!!!

“It would make me feel safer because it would make other drivers aware that I just started driving.”

“What a great idea! Teaching new students to drive is a very difficult task - and one huge problem is other impatient drivers who do not know the driver ahead is a beginning driver. These impatient drivers will sound their horns, tailgate, execute a dangerous pass, and do other unsafe acts that would make the beginning driver even more unsure of themselves.
Not a good situation to be in! With the use of a “safe student driver” flag, this will now identify these beginning drivers to others and hopefully alleviate a very serious problem.”
– Joe Socol, Driver’s Ed Instructor, Indiana Area School District
As a new driver, I know the difficulty of how other drivers behave. The idea of having a flag to warn other drivers is definitely a great idea! I hope to see them more often so that we can make our community a whole lot safer.

As a truck driver for a local asphalt company, I feel this should be a nationwide thing. If I see the flag on a vehicle, I would certainly use more caution. I would tend to give more space to the young driver.
